A 1943 autumn coat decorated with smocking on the front shoulders and on the front and back waistlines, where they give the coat shape and definition. This is a collarless jacket with a high and shaped neckline. The centre fronts meet together and are fastened with a decorative button/toggle, but they do not overlap. The sleeves are fitted at the shoulder and flare slightly at the wrist, where they gather into a band.
