1949 Swing Coat. Bust 96 cm (37.8"). PDF pattern.
Also available as a printed PAPER pattern
This swing coat, which falls to hip-length, dates back to autumn 1949. It has a high collar to keep your neck warm in chilly winds. The front edges of the coat meet at the centre, but do not overlap. However, this could easily be adapted to create a buttoned front. The original pattern included a pattern piece for a decorative pocket flap, but I have added an extra piece for a large patch pocket (I appreciate pockets!). The sleeves have wide cuffs, and thick topstitching accentuates the main seams of the coat. For best effect, wear it with a slim skirt.
