1941 Dress. Bust 120 cm (47")
Also available as a PDF pattern
This is a classic, 1940s-style, vest-style dress with an A-line skirt. The original design featured a contrasting front panel with buttons and welt pockets. The waist is accentuated by a belt sewn into the front seams that fastens at the back. The fitted sleeves also have markings for a shorter version. This design is representative of the era's typical style. Although it is a practical design, it can easily be transformed with colour blocking, as shown in the original sketch. Using different fabrics demonstrates the dressmaker's ability to be economical by reusing small remnants to create a remarkable garment.
